| This antique mahogany bureau bookcase is very good quality & of lovely small proportions. I would say it dates to around the 1910 period & it's in good original condition. This piece has so many good features that you really need to take an enlarged look at all the images. Look at the tear drop
moulded cornice, the wonderfully fitted interior behind the flap, the design of the flame mahogany & the way the adjustable shelves slide into the grooves. It also has astral glazed doors, graduated drawers, with original brass handles, brass escutcheons, locks & bracket feet. The back of this bureau bookcase is solid oak & the whole item has plenty of character. What I like most are the very small proportions & slimness of this piece. It comes apart into two sections, with
the top half just lifting off the dowels. |
